Festivals:- Fairs and festivals play an important part in the social life of ordinary Bangladesh. The Biggest Muslim religious festivals are the Eid-ul-Fitr (End of the fasting month of Ramadhan), Eid-ul-Azha, Muharram and Miladunnabi (birth-day of the Prophet). Widely celebrated festivals for other religious communities are the Durga Puja for the Hindus, Christmas for the Christians and Buddha Purnima for the Buddhists. Bangla New year’s Day (Pahela Baishakh), Shahid Dibas (Language Martyrs’ day), National Mourning  day (August 15), Independence Day (March 26) and Victory Day (December 16) are celebrated nation-wide.

Dance:- Classical forms of the sub-continent, predominate in Bangladeshi dance. The folk tribal and middle eastern traits are also common. Among the tribal dances, particularly popular are Monipuri and santal.


Photography:- Films and processing facilities are widely available everywhere but it is a good idea to ensure that you have sufficient film with you when visiting remote areas. People are not camera shy but always ask first before taking photographs to avoid embarrassment to all concerned.

Sports for Bangladesh:- Bangladeshis are lovers of sports and facilities are being expanded steadily to develop national potential of fields and tracks. Activities are co-ordinated by local, regional and national bodies. These organizations hold tournaments and competitions  at various levels in ascending order and participation in national and international meets has made improvement in standard possible, though still much remains to be done in this field. Many regional sports meets are held periodically. Popular games and sports of Bangladesh are football, cricket, volley ball, golf, water-skiing, basketball, boat racing, target shooting, kite flying, swimming, badminton, chess, tennis, wrestling, ‘Ha-do-do’ and dariabanda(local games) etc.
Bangladesh has achieved one day International Cricket Status in the year 2000.
